“One of the best party bands in America” —The New York Times

  • Buckwheat Zydeco, the band USA Today called "zydeco trailblazers," won this year's Grammy Award for the 2009 release Lay Your Burden Down in the Best Zydeco or Cajun Music Album category. The band has been nominated five previous times in three different categories. This is their first Grammy Award.
  • Bandleader Stanley “Buckwheat” Dural first learned the accordion from zydeco legend Clifton Chenier while on tour as his organist.
  • The band released Lay Your Burden Down in May 2009. With five original tracks—plus brilliant re-imagined covers of Bruce Springsteen, Memphis Minnie, and Jimmy Cliff—Allmusic.com called it Dural’s “most accomplished and mature album yet.”
